Rooted & Roaming
Rooted in the journey. You can wander and still be grounded, explore and still be restored. Travel through a regulated nervous system.
Early mornings. Slow coffee. A quiet trail, an open ocean, strangers worth watching, miles of road ahead. Near or far, I travel to step away from the noise and find my way back to that grounded feeling. The one my body never forgets. Every place here gave me something. I hope something here finds you too.
Dry Tortugas National Park, Florida
Ocean like a watercolor painting, cool and refreshing, 70 miles from anywhere.
Built in 1846. Brick, ocean, and nothing else. Still standing.
Every window a painting.
Dark, still. Just the wonder of everyone who climbed these stairs before me.
The Florida Keys
Breathtaking. Sun setting over the open ocean on the way out.
Alligator Reef Lighthouse up close at night. Such a unique perspective.
The ocean floor lit up below us. Creatures floating by.
Quirky, colorful, simple joys. The Rain Barrel Village in Islamorada.
Love Locks at the Blond Giraffe Key Lime Pie Factory in Key Largo.
The Kapok Tree, Key West. Sacred to the Mayan people and grows 130 feet tall.
Walked across the island at 6 AM to beat the crowds. Just us and the roosters.
Stood still and stayed present. A piece of its wing is missing, but it's still flying. There's such beauty in that. Key West Butterfly Conservatory
Walking along and happened to look up. One of those unexpected moments that makes you pause.
Blue Heaven, Key West. Tropical, unhurried, roosters included.
Early morning, island still sleeping. Roosters already awake and roaming.
This mug caught my eye in Mallory Square. A little Key West in every morning.
Shark Valley at Everglades National Park, Florida
Two alligators, spotted from the tram.
One blade moving in the wind. Miles of stillness around it.
A hammock rising out of the sawgrass. An island of trees in a sea of grass.
Walking toward the observation tower. The sky felt enormous.
The view from the top. Miles of Everglades in every direction.
A waterway cutting through the grass. Quiet and still.
Looking down from the tower. Still water, deep green, completely quiet.
Mangrove roots reaching into the water and earth.
Even the restroom sign has Everglades residents.
