What Actually Shifted the Weight

For decades, I tried almost everything to lose weight and keep it off. Keto worked for a while, until I noticed I was just swapping one kind of processed ingredient for another. Whole foods felt better, but keeping that up while working full time and caring for my family was its own kind of exhausting. I tried structured programs too, but the rules often rewarded processed shortcuts over the whole foods I knew were actually healthier.

Eventually I tried GLP-1 medications. I was on one for a few months, and then a different one later for about a year. They worked, to a point. The side effects and the unknowns that came with staying on them long term weren't a trade I was willing to keep making.

What actually shifted things for me was addressing my gut health and my nervous system at the same time.

The gut and the brain are in constant communication all day long. When the nervous system stays in chronic stress, digestion slows, the gut microbiome gets disrupted, and the body holds onto weight as a kind of protection. Mood gets affected too, since most of the body's serotonin is produced in the gut, not the brain.

Once I started supporting both gut health and nervous system regulation, inflammation eased and my mood steadied, something that hadn't happened with anything else I'd tried.

I've made real progress. Between the nervous system work, the gut healing, and a natural GLP-1 approach, I've seen shifts in inches, my labs, and the scale. What's different now is the pace and the mindset behind it. Wellness is a part of my life now, not one separate goal I'm constantly working on.
